The meaning of pottery in Vietnamese life

The significance of pottery in the social life of Vietnamese people is considered extremely important.

Pottery is also widely used in construction. From ancient times to the present, pottery is one of the quite special products that accounts for a very large number in architectural works in the world. In addition to its function as a building material, ceramics also have the function of decorating architectural works. This shows that pottery has become indispensable in the needs of construction and social stability.

Bat Trang ceramics are the quintessence of Vietnamese culture. Since ancient times, Bat Trang ceramics have been considered precious and only used on important occasions in life such as building houses, weddings, etc. In the ancient Vietnamese ceramic village, Bat Trang ceramics are a traditional beauty of the nation.

Since prehistoric times, ceramics have been used as jewelry (for example, bracelets and earrings made of clay from the pre-Dong Son period), weapons (earthen bombs). In addition to jewelry and weapons, ceramics also had a very early transportation function.

Since its inception, ceramics have become indispensable items, increasingly close to people’s daily lives.
It can be said that ceramics are not a new product that needs to be attracted or promoted much, because this is a familiar image of our country – a country with many traditional craft villages. Products made from ceramics always have a rustic shape but contain the creativity of many skilled artisans.

Perhaps this is now the main function and role of ceramic products in the lives of Vietnamese people. We are going through difficult times and we have to do everything to have food to feed ourselves and our families every day. Now, in a more modern era, people are still fascinated by the beauty of ceramics, so they should reserve a special place for these products, and that is home decoration. It can be a large flower pot to display flowers of prosperity, beautiful and delicate ceramic products to entertain guests or a statue of prosperity to make the house more luxurious and fulfill many wishes of the homeowner. Perhaps, no matter what, ceramics are still an indispensable part of our people!
